Eye Conditions

Dry Eye

A number of disturbances to the tear film known collectively as ‘dry eye’ may cause symptoms of varying severity from dry, scratchy irritation to severe discomfort and photophobia (aversion to bright light).  At Eyetech, we offer the latest technology in the management of dry eye from preservative-free lubricants to nutritional supplements.

Glaucoma

This is an eye condition caused when pressure in the eye builds up. The pressure in the eye presses on the optic nerve at the back of the eye and may cause permanent irreversible loss of sight if it is not managed properly. Currently about 300,000 people in Australia have glaucoma. While it is more common in the older segment of the population, it can occur at any age. It is therefore important to have your eye pressures checked at least once every two years.

Macular Degeneration

Macular degeneration (MD) is the name given to a group of degenerative diseases of the retina that cause progressive, painless loss of central vision, affecting the ability to see fine detail, drive, read and recognise face*. Macular degeneration can be detected with close examination of the retina under the slit lamp or with a retina camera. Come and request for your macula to be checked.
